Dr Freeman is a Specialist Vascular Surgeon providing services for patients with peripheral arterial disease, aortic aneurysm, extracranial carotid disease, venous disease including varicose veins, leg and foot ulcers including diabetic foot pathology, and for patients requiring vascular access for haemodialysis and chemotherapy.
Dr Freeman completed his undergraduate training at the University of Otago, before relocating to Australia. He received his Fellowship (FRACS Vascular) from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2009. After spending most of his career in Sydney he relocated to Cairns in September 2023 to take up a Senior Vascular Surgeon appointment at Cairns Hospital.
Dr Freeman performs the full range of vascular surgical procedures and endovascular interventions including aortic surgery, complex endografting, carotid endarterectomy and stenting, peripheral arterial procedures, venous procedures including endovenous ablation with laser and glue, and vascular access surgery.
With a keen interest in teaching, he is deeply involved in the training of Vascular Surgical Trainees with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Freeman looks forward to being involved with the non-operative and operative management of patients with vascular disease.
