Dr. Charith Galappaththy is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a Consultant Vascular Surgeon in Cairns. Since 2022, Dr. Galappaththy has been serving as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Cairns  Public Hospital. Dr Galappaththy manages all types of vascular surgical diseases and is competent in offering an array of treatment options which include non-operative, open surgical and endovascular surgery.

Dr Galappaththy completed his medical degree (MBBS) in 2009 in Sri Lanka. Soon afterwards, he started his specialist surgical training which included an MD in Surgery and specialised training in Vascular, Endovascular and Transplant Surgery. During this time, he was an academic staff member and later, a Vascular and Transplant Surgeon in Teaching Hospital of University of Peradeniya, the largest University in Sri Lanka. Between 2018 and 2020, Dr. Galappaththy completed a Fellowship in Endovascular Surgery at Townsville University Hospital, where he worked in Townsville University Hospital as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon soon afterwards. 

In Cairns, Dr. Galappaththy consults patients in his private rooms, where he also offers day procedures such as sclerotherapy and micro sclerotherapy. Furthermore, he performs both open and endovascular surgery at Cairns Private Hospital.
