Maternity Unit Tours

Women usually receive a personalised and private tour of the Unit when they attend a booking-in appointment with a midwife. Tours are also included in our Childbirth and Parenting Education Classes.

If you are unable to have a tour during your booking-in appointment, or choose not to do Childbirth and Parenting Education Classes, then please discuss this with the midwife during your booking appointment in order for us to arrange a tour for you at a mutually convenient time, or alternatively contact us on 07 4052 5280 or

Childbirth and Parenting Education

Our Childbirth and Parenting Classes are designed to assist you and your partner to gain knowledge and confidence around pregnancy, birth and care of your baby. They’re designed to assist you to make the transition to parenthood a positive one by preparing you for the changes in your lives.

The classes are also an opportunity to meet other couples and develop a support network with others going through the same experiences. Each session is designed to cover a variety of topics from pregnancy and labour, through to baby care and parenting skills. Our classes are evidence-based and reviewed regularly to ensure information is current.

Classes are run by midwives who have many years of experience in both maternity care and education.

They will give you the opportunity to ask questions and consider all your options in a relaxed and informal environment.

Classes are available in two time slots:

Saturday mornings – 8:30am to 12:30pm for two consecutive Saturdays

Monday evenings – 5:30pm to 7:30pm for 4 consecutive weeks (eg, every Monday of February, every Monday of March etc)

Classes can be attended face to face or online.

Costs and inclusions:

  • The cost of the classes includes educational material and light refreshments
  • Receipts for your classes will be provided following completion of your program
  • A refund for classes may be possible depending on your level of cover with your health fund. Please check with your health fund.
