Cairns Private Hospital staff answer the call to arms

More than 60 Cairns Private Hospital staff have answered the call to arms and volunteered to support the establishment and operation of the Cairns Convention Centre COVID Vaccination Hub.
Thousands of locals have already attended the Hub which is co-ordinated by the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) to receive their Pfizer vaccine.
The Hub is capable of administering up to 1500 Covid-19 vaccines every day.
Cairns Private Hospital staff are helping supplement the existing vaccination team working at the Hub to ensure as many people who want the vaccine receive it.
Hospital Chief Executive Ben Tooth said Ramsay Health Care staff had volunteered to work at vaccine centres throughout Queensland.
“Our Cairns Private Hospital staff didn’t hesitate to answer the call to arms to assist at the vaccination Hubs,” Mr Tooth said. Our dedicated nurses are committed to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be vaccinated for the safety and protection of the entire Cairns community.
“We’ve been impressed with the commitment of the Ramsay frontline health workers who have gone above and beyond to assist with the vaccination roll out.”
Mr Tooth said Ramsay Health Care was keen to do anything it could to help with the COVID vaccine roll out throughout Australia.
“Our Cairns staff put their hands up to be involved in this as they know how important it is not just locally but for all of Australia to increase the number of people who have been vaccinated,” he said.
“The Ramsay Health Care philosophy is, People Caring for People, and this is a prime example of that in action. We know that vaccination is incredibly effective in preventing severe illness and hospitalisations, and with every additional vaccine administered, we ensure the number of people who need to be admitted to hospital with COVID reduces,” Mr Tooth said.
