Dr Phoebe Hong, has commenced private practice at Cairns Private Hospital.  Dr Hong graduated from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2006.  She started her specialist training in New Zealand and moved to Australia in 2013 to pursue her study in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 

Phoebe worked at the Cairns Hospital between 2013-2014 as a FROGS (Far North Regional Obstetric and Gynaecological Service) Registrar and Senior Registrar.  She then completed two years of Fellowship in advanced gynaecological laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery in Melbourne and Sydney. 

During her Fellowship training, Dr Hong worked closely with a number of experienced gynaecologists, including Dr Alex Ades, who is renowned for his expertise in the treatment of cervical insufficiency, and is one of the most experienced surgeons in Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage, both in Australia and internationally. 

Phoebe also worked with Associate Professor Bernard Haylen, who is well known for his contribution and leadership in urogynaecology.  During this time, Dr Hong was also awarded a Covidien Scholarship and completed a Master of Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Phoebe offers both gynaecology and obstetric services and has an interest in the surgical treatment of conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids and urogenital prolapse.  Inspired by her mentor, Phoebe is keen to continue her work on Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage for women with cervical insufficiency. 

Dr Phoebe Hong speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese and is able to converse in basic Japanese.
