Dr Bretz is a Specialist Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician who has been working in Private Practice in Cairns since 2002.
Dr Bretz is a graduate of the University of Queensland. He did his internship and early medical training at Cairns Base Hospital, subsequently returning to Brisbane to complete specialist training in Respiratory Medicine. He did research in non-invasive ventilation for acute respiratory failure and was awarded 'Registrar of the Year' at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
Dr Bretz is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, The Australasian Sleep Association, The American Thoracic Society and the European Thoracic Society.
Interests include interstitial lung disease, airways disease, bronchiectasis, lung cancer and detailed pulmonary function testing.
Outside his work commitments, Dr Bretz enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, bushwalking and photography.
