Dr Trent Grundy is a local born, dual trained Specialist rheumatologist and Specialist general physician, who completed training in Queensland. He studied at James Cook University, subsequently spending time working in both Townsville and Mackay and surrounding regions. His Advanced Training years were completed at the Townsville University Hospital, the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Having completed schooling in Cairns, the FNQ lifestyle was calling, and when the opportunity arose he made the move with his family. He currently works out of the Cairns Hospital, as well as from the Ramsay Private Practice Consulting Suites.

Dr Grundy is confident in diagnosing and managing all variety of Rheumatological conditions including inflammatory and crystal arthritis (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Gout, Pseudogout), autoimmune connective tissue diseases (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Sjogren's) as well as Myositis and Vasculitis. He strives to uphold the principles of clear communication and shared decision making with patients.

His interests lie in the delivery of equitable healthcare in regional and rural communities, delivering and engaging in medical education, as well as early inflammatory arthritis, and vasculitis.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two boys, his parents and brother who also live locally, and on adventures including boating, hiking and camping around Cairns. He looks forward to ever increasing adventures as his children grow up with all that FNQ has to offer.
