Ramsay Health Care supports flood-affected staff and communities with $182,000 donation

Apr 04, 2022

Ramsay Health Care has donated $182,000 to help people displaced by the recent rain and flooding that hit south-east Queensland and New South Wales, including providing grants totalling $132,000 for Ramsay staff who were severely impacted.

Ramsay Health Care Australia CEO, Carmel Monaghan, said the company developed a staff-specific Flood Hardship Assistance Grant to help cover employees’ costs such as emergency accommodation, food and essential items.

“It was heartbreaking to read some of the stories of our staff who suffered significant losses during the floods, escaping with only the clothes on their back and some precious belongings,” Ms Monaghan said.

“We hope this will go some way towards assisting our people during this difficult time.”

Ramsay Health Care also donated $50,000 to the Australian Red Cross, which will help communities to recover and rebuild from the flood crisis.

“Our company philosophy is people caring for people and it is important to me that we provide support to the communities that we are a part of,” Ms Monaghan said.

While the severe weather event was unfolding, Ramsay Health Care also provided special emergency leave to health workers who were isolated by floodwaters and therefore could not work.

“As health care workers, our staff are always helping others, so we wanted to make sure they were cared for themselves during a time of need,” Ms Monaghan said.

Ramsay Health Care also provides a free Employee Assistance Program for staff who want to access professional and confidential counselling, coaching and support.
